2012 International Vegetarian Union Program
Before the Expo starts, you can join in the fun and camaraderie of a special International Vegetarian Union (IVU) program, taking place on both Thursday and Friday, October 11 and 12.
(This is part of a larger IVU Congress which is happening in California during October. For details about the full Congress event, see this link.)
The IVU Program will take place at the same venue as the Expo -- Warner Center Marriott Hotel. You can arrive Wednesday, Oct 10, 2012, and receive the special group discount rate at the Marriott.
Here are events which you can take part in:
THURSDAY IVU EVENT:
Thursday, Oct 11, 2012 -- Guided bus tour around the Los Angeles area. Starting at 8:30 am at the hotel, come meet wolves from the Lockwood Animal Rescue Center and Wolf Sanctuary for a presentation on eco-therapy and wolf wisdom - using the natural world as a source of healing, finding balance, and creating healthy home lives and work environments. Then at 9:30 am, board a bus and head for the J. Paul Getty Museum to tour famed art collections. Then lunch at a local vegan eatery in Westwood, and on to Venice Beach (more info about Venice Beach), Hollywood and the Walk of Fame, then to CityWalk at Universal Studios, stopping for a delicious vegan dinner before returning to the hotel Thursday evening.
The Thursday bus tour will be hosted by Chef AJ.

Friday, Oct 12, 2012 - IVU Speaking Program -
9:00 am - 3:15 pm -- Beginning at 9:00 am in a special venue at the Warner Marriott Hotel -- the IVU speaking program includes:

9.00-9.45 - Opening panel with representatives from Asia, Australia, Africa, Europe, North and South America -- Introduction to the International Vegetarian Union (IVU) and World Vegetarianism and Veganism - with photos of veg activities around the world. Panel members to include:

11.30-12.00 - Sebastian Zoesch, CEO Vegetarier Bund Deutschland, on 'The Veg*n and Animal Rights movements in Germany and Austria
12.00-12.30 -Tracy Wong, Malaysia with a video presentation on the 41st IVU World Vegfest, to be held in Kuala Lumpur and Penang in October 2013
12.30-1.30 - lunch
1.30-2.00 - Brian Jacobs, London, UK on Vegan Hypnotherapy
2.00-2.30 - Saurabh Dalal, India/USA - "Diet and Environmental Connection from a Science-based Perspective"
2.30-3.15 - closing panel, questions for all speakers
3:15 -- End of international program -- guests will then have almost 3 hours to swim, work out, relax, whatever -- before the main EXPO program with dinner begins at 6pm.

The cost for the Friday IVU Speaking Program is $50.

Note: This is separate from the main Expo event and takes place before the Expo. If you wish to attend the Expo, which begins Friday night, Oct 12, at 6:00 pm with a dinner and keynote, you will need to purchase a separate ticket.
